Security Risk Management and BCP

Premel adopts the All-Hazards Risk Management approach for security risk assessments, as required under the recent amendments to the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 and Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

These recent amendments align the security regulated aviation and maritime & offshore oil and gas industries to the requirements of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018. While Premel maintains an approach consistent with ISO 31000:2018 and HB:167, we undertaken our risk assessments in accordance with the requirements of the revised legislation.

By way of overview, the key elements of the new requirements are:

  • Comprehensive Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments to identify all potential hazards, including natural disasters, human-induced threats, and environmental risks.
  • Holistic View: Consider the impact on the availability, integrity, reliability, and confidentiality of critical infrastructure assets.
  • Proactive Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to minimize or eliminate identified risks as far as reasonably practicable.
  • Detection and Response: Establish processes to detect and respond to threats in real-time to prevent risks from materialising.
  • Robust Procedures: Implement robust procedures to mitigate the impact of incidents and ensure quick recovery.
  • Business Continuity Plans: Develop and maintain business continuity plans to ensure the continued operation of critical services during and after an incident.
  • Annual Reporting: Provide annual reports to relevant regulators, ensuring that the risk management program is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Board Oversight: Ensure that the governance framework includes oversight by the organization’s board or governing body.
  • Regular Reviews: Continuously review and update risk management practices to adapt to new threats and changing circumstances.
  • Training and Awareness: Invest in training programs to enhance the skills and awareness of staff regarding risk management practices
